‘Conceal/Reveal’ Now On Broad Street

Now that’s a mask. Conceal/Reveal, an installation of creative masks, is now on display in the sidewalk window of the new state archive building downtown on Broad Street. This past summer, the Providence Art Club invited Rhode Islanders to participate in this collaborative creative project.

The goal of this project is twofold — first, to celebrate the importance of creativity and the healing power of the visual arts during this difficult time, and second, to encourage our friends and neighbors to wear masks in order to continue to slow the spread of Covid-19 in our community.

All ages were invited to take part — the youngest participant was nine years old. Originally displayed in the windows of the Dodge House Gallery along Thomas Street, Conceal/Reveal is now a traveling exhibit courtesy of the R.I. Department of Health.

The featured blinged-out mask would be perfect for Mardi Gras.

Below are some other favorites.

The installation is on Broad Street between Empire and Greene Streets.
