Siren Testing

(7.8) The Providence Emergency Management Agency (PEMA) will conduct tests of the Port of Providence emergency siren warning system at noon on Thursday, July 8.

The primary goal of these tests is to ensure proper functioning of the sirens and the system control panels associated with them.  These sirens may be audible in surrounding communities.

The alert signal will be followed by the message:

“This is a test of the emergency management public warning system.  This is only a test.”

  1. So, in the case of a real emergency, when the siren goes off exactly what are residents supposed to do? Run? Flee the city? Go to a shelter? Turn on our TVs & radios. Check our mobile devices?
