Oyster Festival — Providence River Walk

(10.8) The 8th Annual Ocean State Oyster Festival will be taking over the Providence River boardwalk on South Water Street this Saturday. The event will feature twelve Rhode Island oyster farms, live music, craft beer and wine, and food trucks. Each year organizers get together to celebrate the oyster as a treasured natural resource. Looks like the weather will be sunny and cool.

This festival is not only about eating delicious oysters:

In the fall each year we get together to celebrate and recognize the oyster as a treasured natural resource in Rhode Island with the largest collection of oyster farms from the Ocean State assembled at one time; partner with the Nature Conservancy of R.I. to rebuild natural habitat reefs; and help support the Ocean State Aquaculture Association.

But it is definitely about eating delicious oysters:

Participating Farms: 401 Oyster Co., Aquidneck Island Oyster Co., Block Island Oyster Co., Bluff Hill Cove Oyster Farm, East Beach Blonde Oysters, Fox Island Oysters, Rocky Rhode Oysters, Quonnie Siren Oysters, Quonset Point Oysters, Salt Pond Oysters, Sea Kist Oysters, and Walrus & Carpenter Oysters!

Food vendors: Sunset Farms, Shuckin’ Truck, and RaRa’s Surf Shack.

And check out the live music hosted by DJ Unkle Thirsty at Hendrick’s Gin Garden: Bochek (5-7pm), Z-Boys (3-5pm), DJ Red Dawn (1-3pm).
