AS220 November Galleries Open

Maybe you have spotted these “unsolicited interventions” around town somewhere; I know I have. Here’s your chance to meet the artist behind them. The public is invited to an opening reception of the AS220 November Galleries this Saturday. The exhibitions run through November 23. Seen here is the work of Linda Ford who writes:

By creating unsolicited interventions that beckon to passersby to slow down, to pay attention, to question, I’m engaging embodied and activated participants rather than consumers. I am inserting objects onto sidewalks that people traverse everyday, to draw attention to what is happening to our shared public space and resources. Visual art is about noticing, looking in new ways, paying attention. This is an essential way in which art can open us up to creating a new world.

They did make me slow down; mission accomplished.
