PROVIDENCE, RI – The apocalypse has come and gone and all that’s left is a house made of suitcases amid a sea of junk and two eccentrics trying to make the best of it. Follow the insufferable lives of two people choosing necessity over logic in this quirky comedy that utilizes the style of a by-gone era. Created and performed by Jed Hancock-Brainerd and visiting Spanish artist Ana Mirtha Sariego, If You Shoot a Boot, You Might Get Wet is sure to delight, confound, and amaze.
If You Shoot a Boot You Might Get Wet is being presented at 95 Empire St this June by local theatre company Strange Attractor, in collaboration with Spanish company, Rompecabezas. The play began development in 2008, as Spanish artist Ana Mirtha Sariego’s thesis project at the London International School of Performing Arts (www.lispa.co.uk).
While Sariego is in Rhode Island she will also be teaching a Spanish language workshop in physical theatre in conjunction with ECAS Theatre. The performance and workshop are RISCA-sponsored.
This activity is made possible in part by a grant from the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts, through an appropriation by the Rhode Island General Assembly and a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.
