New Year’s Eve — Fireworks And More

(12.31) Let the activations begin. Head down to the pedestrian bridge and the 195 District Park this Sunday for the city’s New Year’s Eve ‘Starts at Sunset’ celebration. Events run early so people can get going with whatever other plans they may have. The Mayor and the Providence Tourism Council extend this invitation, and for the first time in 2023, it looks like the weather will cooperate:

Join us for the evening at 195 District Park, where festivities will illuminate the night from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. There will be a heated tent where The Guild will be on hand, serving beverages to the 21+ crowd, while food trucks, interactive art activations, and roaming entertainment, including the Providence Drum Troupe, Extraordinary Rendition Brass Band and local musician Jose Docen, promise enjoyment for all ages.

There will be a lighting of WaterFire’s braziers surrounding the pedestrian bridge, starting at 7 p.m., setting the stage for the Providence Tourism Council’s Illuminate PVD Fireworks show at 8:30 p.m. The Michael Van Leesten Pedestrian Bridge offers the perfect vantage point, providing views of the fireworks on the Providence River.

Visitors can find A Silent Soapbox roaming on the pedestrian bridge as the Winter Fairy from 7pm to 8:30pm. The Guild Beer Garden and Ming’s Asian Street Food will be located in 195 District Park.

People can approach all this from either the Dyer Street side or the South Water Street end.

NYE, 5:30pm to 9:30pm, Sunday, December 31, 2023, Van Leesten Bridge, (directions)
