Secret Mall Apartment — More Dates Added

The ‘Secret Mall Apartment’ website reports that the movie’s run has been extended through Wednesday, April 2nd, with several screenings a day. This comes as no surprise to anyone who has been to see the film lately; the theater has been packed and the crowd particularly enthusiastic. (You don’t have to be from Providence or know these people to enjoy this documentary — its success around the country proves that — but it has been extra fun to have the audience erupt in cheers when a friend appears on the screen.)

And tickets have been selling like crazy. A ProJo reporter recently caught a show that included a Q&A with the principals:

First, the director, Jeremy Workman, walked in saying he’d take questions from the packed house. Yes – the theater was almost packed. Workman, who got the artists to agree to a film after many others had tried, told me it has sold thousands of tickets at its Providence run, which was just extended.

Thousands! Buying tickets ahead of time is recommended, particularly if you are going with a group of friends.

We covered the movie when it first opened and also had a chance to meet the charming Mr. Workman. More at NYT review.

(Seen here is the secret apartment tableau in the lobby. It has been placed precisely 200 feet above the original secret apartment. Go pose with friends.)

Running time: 91 minutes.

Secret Mall Apartment runs through Wednesday, April 2, Showcase Cinema, Providence Place (directions)
