Providence native and Moses Brown grad, Sam Daly, is slowly being introduced into The Office storyline as Matt the handsome warehouse worker and Oscar’s secret crush (that everybody knows about). He’s only appeared in four episodes so far — with about as many lines. He’s often seen entering the room or leaving the room, and he was excellent in the ‘standing near the table’ scene. Sam is the son of actors Tim Daly and (Brown grad) Amy Van Nostrand who met while performing in Sam Shepard’s Buried Child at Trinity Rep, and later returned to Providence to raise their kids. And I think Sam waited tables at Red Stripe before heading west. I’m not sure the show’s writers know where they want to go with the whole Matt thing, but jeez, give him some lines already.
