The Colorful Dennis Eckersley

paver by douglas borkman First, a follow up to an April post about sculptor Douglas Borkman’s entry in the RISD Faculty Biennial. His “installation” — a pile of rubbery hand molds — was actually a by-product of the actual work now installed at Fenway Park. You can find the ‘Jerry Remy’ underneath your feet at the Gate B plaza area.

Speaking of whom, regular NESN Red Sox color commentator, and former Sox second baseman, Jerry Remy has been out lately with what he says are seasonal allergies (although he has other health issues) and we wish him well. But it must be said that former Red Sox pitcher and Hall-of-Famer Dennis Eckersley, who has been filling in, has been wildly entertaining. Talk about color.  Not a minute goes by without Eck illuminating the action with some wacky anecdote from the past or insider poop from around the league. He is unpredictable, unfiltered,

and more than a little bit screwy. TBS has already signed him up for the post-season but let’s hope NESN keeps him on deck. Hell, he could host The Tonight Show.
