Hopkins, Brown . . . Amendola

One more Patriot calls Benefit Street home. Nobody knows why, but apparently New England Patriots’ wide receiver Danny Amendola now lives on Benefit Street and he’s already fighting with the neighbors. In a controversy that absolutely no one is calling Carport-Gate, Amendola has erected a non-conforming structure behind his house. According to the ProJo,

He is renting the home and applied to the city last month for permission to erect the carport for the duration of the season. It is supposed to come down in February.

In the meantime, neighbors see an eyesore.

Amendola is from Texas, famous for zoning so lax that nursing homes can be built next to fertilizer plants (a.k.a. a good business environment). Texans only beef in this dispute would be that the Amendola boy seemed to be puttin’ on airs what with his fancy carport and all. “Too good for a tarp now I suppose.”

And how is a multi-million dollar player with an injured knee even allowed to live on Benefit Street? Has Belichick seen these sidewalks?

At any rate, we’ll see if the Patriots’ season lasts into February. The carport could come this month.

  1. Let him have his car port in the winter. We need this guy to make it to work on time… or old Bill will sit him. We should be happy to have professional athletes living in Providence and contributing to the town’s revenue stream. He filed the proper permit, and he’s offered to take it down for God’s sake.

    Stodgy old coots.
