(1.14) Still bending spoons and blowing minds — mentalist Rory Raven tops the bill at Thursday’s ‘Sweet Little Variety Show’ at Aurora. Raven is the real deal, a droll and engaging performer with stupefying mind-reading skills. For Mr. Raven the “telepathy” is for fun — he will not be pretending to contact your dear departed grandma for her lemon bar recipe and the approval she could never express while alive. Says Raven,“I’m skeptical about paranormal activity. But a background in theater and an interest in esoteric subjects help me to bend the audience’s minds.” Thursday’s show may go something like this.
Brainstorming is an interactive stage mind-reading show. Minds are read, spoons are bent, volunteers test their own “powers”, and, if appropriate, the evening concludes with a re-creation of the kind of manifestation you might have witnessed in a séance chamber over a century ago! While the show is “TV clean”, it is more suitable for adults than for children..
Film, music, and bellydancing round out the evening’s entertainment
