Jeffrey Osborne Opens WaterFire

(8.6) Vocalist Jeffrey Osborne, the youngest of 12 children born into Providence’s musical Osborne family, will kick off tonight’s WaterFire with a 100 torch ‘Ring of Fire’ at 8pm at the basin. He will speak again at the Steeple Street Music Stage at about 9pm.

The program at the Music Stage runs from 6pm to 11pm, with Rose Weaver’s Honeysuckle Rose Band playing two sets: The first starts at 9:15pm; the second at 10:15pm.

Osborne will be hosting a celebrity softball game Monday, August 8, at McCoy Stadium. His JOCC supports local non-profits that help promote the arts, music, or provide safe havens for families. In the past those benefiting have included:

. . . Amos House, Music School of the Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra, Boys & Girls Clubs of Providence, The MET School, Button Hole . . . St. Mary’s Home for Children.
