RI International Film Festival

(8.14) The Rhode Island International Film Festival starts Tuesday and runs through Sunday, August 14. The movies run the gamut — documentary, sci-fi, drama, comedy, shorts, animation — and will be screened at several venues around town including: the Vets Cinemathéque, Metcalf Auditorium, the Providence Public Library, Aurora, AS220.

Andy Smith has a comprehensive write-up in the ProJo. He spoke with festival director George T. Marshall.

Of the 273 films accepted for this year’s festival, Marshall said about 100 have some Rhode Island connection: either made in Rhode Island, or made by Rhode Island filmmakers, or made by someone who studied in the state.
