Sparkle Of 23,000 Lights — RWP Tree Lighting

(12.12) Come to a tree-lighting ceremony at the newly restored Roger Williams Park Bandstand on Roosevelt Lake. More than 23,000 LED lights will sparkle off the surface of the lake when Providence Mayor Jorge Elorza and Rhode Island Foundation President Neil Steinberg throw the switch sending power to the 15-foot tall tree. Free refreshments and holiday music by Joe’s Backyard Band. (Facebook event page.)

The restoration of the historic bandstand is just one of the improvements being made to the park with the help of a $10 million campaign by the Foundation. There’s new signage, expanded bicycle paths, fresh landscaping at the Elmwood Avenue entrances and repairs to other popular attractions like the Museum of Natural History and Planetarium.

5pm to 6pm, Monday, December 12, Bandstand behind Roger Williams Park Casino, 1000 Elmwood Avenue (directions)
