(10.21) Join the Steel Yard on Saturday for the 12th annual Iron Pour. The theme this year is “Into the Depths.”
For this performance, artists harness the power of our custom-built iron tilt-furnace to pour over 2,500 pounds of luminous, molten iron. People return annually not only for the sparky performance and the numerous steel and iron props that we build in our own studio, but also for the phenomenal local music and food.
This year we’re dragging guests down with us to the bottom of the ocean to discover what sleeps beneath the surface. Treasure? A lost city? Or perhaps something a bit more terrifying.
This year’s Iron Pour will feature live musical performances by Alec K. Redfearn and the Eyesores, as well as the Eastern Medicine Singers, and DJ Unkle Thirsty. Plus fire dancers, art sales, and more. Also featuring the MassArt Iron Corps. (Facebook event page.)
The Yardie Bar hosted by Revival Brewing and of course food trucks. More info and tickets go here. Weather looks great.
Seen here is one of the fantastic pix by James Lastowski from last year’s Iron Pour. It’s so hard describing this event to a neophyte. Just go.
