(7.4) Fireworks — Head down to India Point Park this Wednesday for the Providence Fireworks over the water. There will be many food trucks, a bicycle valet, and the Air National Guard Band of the Northeast starts playing at 7pm on the main stage. Unfortunately the music during the fireworks is that Lite Rock 105 crap. I wish they would just turn it off and leave the audio to the fireworks. (Facebook event.)
Ferry Service to Bristol Parade (Wednesday) — For the first time, the state Department of Transportation’s Providence-to-Newport ferry will stop at State Street Pier in Bristol on July Fourth. For details go to Seastreak Ferry Service.
Ferry Cruises for Viewing Fireworks (Tuesday & Wednesday evenings) — Take a cruise on the bay for a cool breeze and the best view of the fireworks! (And a bar.) On Tuesday the ferry will head down to the waters around Bristol for their fireworks. On Wednesday the ferry will hang around India Point. Tickets are $40/person. From Seastreak;
What’s better than a round trip Seastreak cruise with breathtaking sunset views of Bristol Bay after dark? How about adding a front row seat to some spectacular 4th of July fireworks shows in between! Depart Providence, RI shortly before sunset, cruise to Bristol on July 3rd to watch the show on our open air top deck, and then check out your favorite sites aglow in the evening lights! We’re also floating just off the Providence fireworks spectacular on July 4th! Pick one, or both, and you’ll definitely have the best seat in the house!
And don’t stop your car on the damn highway. For another swell view, try the Washington Bridge Linear Park. It is a little removed, but you have a great panoramic view. Last year it wasn’t so terribly crowded up there and we could watch the many other fireworks shows popping off in the distance.
