(6.1) Michelle Wolf first came to my attention as a performer on “Late Night with Seth Meyers” where she was also writing supervisor. Wolf has extensive late night and stand-up credentials, but made a big stir last year following her “controversial” set at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. (Meyers surrounds himself with female talent which partially makes up for the fact that it was his appearance at the WHCD that led directly to our current national nightmare.)
But I say, if it is Wolf who has finally driven a stake through the heart of that ill-conceived tradition she should get a Pulitzer prize in the ‘Public Service’ category. The Washington press corps and our elected officials should not be chummy. (The New York Times stopped going several years ago due to the inappropriate nature of the event. Their thoughts last year: “Did Michelle Wolf kill the White House Correspondents’ Dinner?”)
Actually, the point is moot: Samantha Bee’s counter-programming is far superior on every level. The good news is that Michelle Wolf’s fan base wasn’t the least bit bothered by Sarah Sanders’ hurt feelings (the set was hilarious). Wolf is sly and smart and kooky, and there is much more to her act than the political sphere. But let’s give her that Pulitzer.
Michelle Wolf will be performing three sets: May 30-June 1/Thursday, Friday, Saturday at the Comedy Connection.
No drink minimum. All shows are 18+. Proper ID required. Free parking is available in both lots. Street parking is also available.
