(8.15) Meet Ayana M. Evans. She is one of two performance artists (also, Marsha Parrilla) featured in the Grand Gallery from 6pm-7:30pm this Thursday night. I have no idea what either one will be doing, but I don’t think you will be bored. And it’s free.
The RISD Third Thursday events are designed to help museum-goers experience art in new ways through performances, snippets of conversation, hands-on art-making, and encounters with contemporary artists. This month:
Dirt Palace Public Projects takes over August’s Third Thursday with performance, video, and DJs. Part two of three collaborative events with the Museum and part of the 150 artists’ multidisciplinary works on exhibition at the Wedding Cake House in Providence. Ruffles, Repair & Ritual: the Fine Art of Fixing celebrates the extensive renovation of the Wedding Cake House into a cultural facility that will support an Artist in Residence program and expansion of the Dirt Palace, a feminist art space going strong in Providence since 2000.
(The “Think and Drink: Gorham Silver” event is filled. More are scheduled for September 21 and October 17.)
This will be Gallery Night so hop around.
Third Thursdays, no admission charged, 5pm to 9pm, August 15, RISD Museum, 20 North Main Street, (directions)
