Wrestle Party At AS220

(2.29) Leap into the squared circle! Once a month the Black Box Theater at AS220 hosts a bona fide hometown beatdown. This month’s installment? Cloudy with a Chance of Pain. From Providence Wrestle Party owner/operator Sully Banger:

Part theatre, part basement punk gig, part improv, part comedy, part combat sport, part cabaret, and always completely frikkin’ insane. Fans stand ringside and interact with the performers to cheer and be confounded by the in-betweens of morality. There’s nothing quite like it! There’s a live band!

Mr. Banger’s recaps are very amusing.

Frankly, before I saw Mr. Lastowski’s photographs, I hadn’t gotten too excited about this event, but this looks like the real deal. (And by “real” I mean like pro wrestling “real.”)

$10/free with Brown ID, 8pm to 11pm, Saturday, February 29, Black Box, AS220, 95 Empire Street, (directions)
