(7.31) Now going into its eighth year, the Providence Fringe Festival features more than 300 performing artists from across the country sharing their work in theater, dance, visual arts, and everything in between. The performances will be take place in five venues: WaterFire Arts Center, Farm Fresh, the ISCo., Nicholson File Art Studios, and the Steel Yard. (Those last four are clumped together and easily walkable; the WFAC is not far off.) The festival runs through July 31st.

The scope of this festival is huge. I suggest you browse the ‘Artists of 2021’  section to see what grabs you. I landed on Charming Disaster’s Musical Tarot Show, a goth-folk duo out of Brooklyn who will be performing at the Farm Fresh venue.

Playfully macabre musical duo Charming Disaster (Brooklyn’s Ellia Bisker and Jeff Morris) perform an interactive musical Tarot reading, with audience members selecting cards that not only determine the set list but also predict the future! Featuring original songs inspired by death, crime, folklore, fairy tales, ancient mythology, and the occult, performed with ukulele, guitar, vocal harmonies, virtuosic foot percussion, and theatrical flair.

The Providence Fringe Festival is presented by Wilbury Theatre in collaboration with WaterFire Providence.

Opening night party, 7pm, Monday, July 19, WaterFire Arts Center, 475 Valley Street, (directions)
