Kudos to the Rhode Island Hospital emergency room crew for patching up one of my favorite people on the face of the earth. In a video posted Thursday, David Letterman thanks the doctors and nurses who helped him last August when he was knocked unconscious in a fall as he walked around town. (Yes! All my trips to the emergency room have also involved sidewalks.) Part of Letterman’s statement, from the ProJo:
August 16, my son and I are in Providence and we’re walking around . . . I trip, hit my head on the sidewalk. I go unconscious. Never been knocked out before in my life. People gather around. They call an ambulance. The ambulance comes and picks me up. They take me and my son in the ambulance to the emergency room and they stitch me up, they X-rayed my head, they gave me a CT scan, they scrubbed me up.
So, there is only one reason why famous people show up in Providence with their 18-year-old children; I’m assuming David and Harry were looking at colleges, probably Brown. Pleeeeeze let’s get this swell family attached to our city for the next four years. It might be fun.
And Dave, I can show you where all the uneven pavement is!
