(2.28) Explore the Museum of Natural History’s archives and collection storage vaults with docent Mike McGinity and learn about the museum and its collections. In addition to the taxidermy specimens, you might see cultural artifacts, coral, fossils, figurines, bones, and unique collections like the snowflake photomicrographs below. The ‘Museum From Top to Bottom’ program is being offered twice: Tuesday, February 28, and again on Sunday, March 19. Archives and vaults are only accessible by stairs.
Join us as we peruse the Museum of Natural History’s collection of over 5500 bird specimens in the collection storage vaults. From tropical Sword-billed Hummingbirds to extinct Passenger Pigeons, you can view the wonders of the avian world up close and without the need of your binoculars.
Program fee per session: $3 per adult/free for museum members. Pre-registration required. Capacity is limited. Pets are not permitted on walking tours. The Museum of Natural History and Planetarium offers tours, talks, drawing classes and other programs throughout the year for adult learners in their Lifelong Learners series. Children are not permitted in the lifelong learners programming. More at FB event.
