(2.8) In a response to the Musk government takeover, a rally has been called for Saturday at Senator Jack Reed’s office downtown in Kennedy Plaza. We need our senators to step up and make some noise, and let’s start getting the younger, more vigorous senators in front of the camera. Senators can find their powers enumerated in Article One of the Constitution. Event organizers urge you to bring signs, posters, and banners. All ages . . . this will be a peaceful rally.
Elon Musk has seized control of the government, has hijacked the Department of the Treasury, is railroading over the entire legislative branch of the government, is laying off the Federal workers that run the country, and wants to cut every single regulation so he can move fast and break things, but we don’t want to break this country. We need our RI Congressional Delegation to do everything in their power to stop this violation of the Constitution.
The event is being organized by Indivisible RI, Climate Action RI, Black Lives Matter RI, and others.
Every senator has the power to grind Senate business to a halt – to force roll-call votes on everything, to max out debate time (the classic “talking” filibuster), to deny a quorum, and more. At the very least, some Democratic senators have committed to placing a hold on any Trump nominees until this crisis is resolved.
But neither of Rhode Island’s senators have done so.
