Fine Furnishings Show At WFAC

(11.11) This is the same Fine Furnishings Show that used to be held in Pawtucket. In the past the quality of the wares has been very high, and now they have more room for more vendors. And if you have yet to check out the new WaterFire Arts Center (WFAC), get over there.

Seen here are ‘Toe Point Chests’ by Newport craftsman Paul E. Barclay de Tolly. And one of the woodworkers featured in today’s ProJo write-up is native son Geoffrey Warner (son of William Warner) and he will be back with his “owl” stools. Give them a test! They are super comfortable . . . like tractor seats.

From Channing Gray at the ProJo:

If you are not familiar with the show, it features primarily handmade, heirloom-quality furniture, often made with hand tools in small shops with anywhere from a single artisan to three or four. But larger production operations, like Thomas Moser, also show up.

And styles run the gamut, from Queen Anne reproductions to Shaker, Stickley and contemporary. You can find, or commission, a bedroom or dining set. But you’ll also be able to find rugs, paintings, wallpaper and paint to match. Adler’s Hardware from the Fox Point section of Providence will be on hand with specialty paints and English wallpaper, said Little.

Price points vary, from thousands of dollars for a dining room set to lots of cash-and-carry items, such as wooden spoons for under $100.

The Fine Furnishing Show at WFAC runs three days:

Friday, 5pm to 9pm

Saturday, 10am to 6pm

Sunday, 10am to 4pm

Plenty of free parking all around the building.

$10, November 9-11, Fine Furnishings Show, WaterFire Arts Center, 475 Valley Street, (directions)
