Zoo Half-Priced Thru February

It’s time for Winter Wonder Days at the Roger Williams Park Zoo. Admission is half-priced now through the end of February.

It may be cold and even snowy, but it is the perfect weather to see animals outside enjoying nature’s cooler temperatures. . . Bundle up and enjoy the crisp winter air while exploring the zoo! Discount will be automatically applied at checkout.

Seen here is the critically endangered Bactrian camel (Camelus bactrianus) native to the Gobi Desert and the steppes of central and east Asia. Their humps store fat which can be converted into energy during periods of scarcity.

These camels are renowned for their remarkable ability to survive extended periods without water. When water is available, they can consume substantial quantities, up to 35 gallons at a time. To conserve moisture, Bactrian camels minimize sweating and produce highly concentrated urine.

Tickets run $8 to $11. Toddlers one and younger are free.

Zoo closed Tuesday and Wednesday (except for holidays and school vacation days).

Hours: 10am to 4pm. Last admission 3:30pm.

New arrivals include: Enzi the giraffe; Leopold and Nora, golden lion tamarin monkeys; Ren the Matschie’s tree kangaroo, Gustavo a southern tamandua; and Scout a Linne’s two-toed sloth.

(Sadly, Willie the donkey has passed away. He was 30 years old.)
