(3.4) The Senior Shows at the Woods-Gerry Galleries have begun. This week it is the Senior Painting show. Seen here is a detail from “Decorated Domestic,” oil and acrylic on linen by Paree Rohera. Don’t let the cute bunnies fool you, this work features several unsettling images including a three-headed turtle and creepy photo-realistic hair jewelry. I like it a lot.
These shows are only up for about 5 days each. This one remains up through next Tuesday, March 4
Next up: Illustration, March 7-11. Then Industrial Design, March 14-18. The receptions are held on the prior Thursday evening and are also open to the public. But they are lively crowded affairs for the students, friends and faculty. It’s not ideal for viewing and I leave it to the artists.
And the weather now allows for setting a spell outside on the terrace.
Free and open to the public, ‘Painting’ runs through Tuesday, March 4, Woods-Gerry Galleries, 62 Prospect Street, (directions)
