The exact location of Jon Stewart’s rally has been revealed, although what will actually happen when you get there. . . who knows? The Rally to Restore Sanity website doesn’t give away much.
Ours is a rally for the people who’ve been too busy to go to rallies, who actually have lives and families and jobs (or are looking for jobs) — not so much the Silent Majority as the Busy Majority. If we had to sum up the political view of our participants in a single sentence… we couldn’t. That’s sort of the point.
Stewart is using the event to draw attention to the condition of the National Mall which is suffering from years of neglect and underfunding, and will undoubtedly take a further beating on the 30th (Trust for the National Mall). And if you need a ride and can get yourself down to Manhattan, get on board one Arianna Huffington’s free buses. When asked how many people she could handle, “We have as many buses as people to fill them.” This could be interesting.
Noon to 3pm, Saturday, October 30, National Mall
