In the latest election only 11% of voters between 18 and 29 years of age bothered to vote. Few candidates discussed Iraq or Afghanistan in their campaigns unless asked. (Exit strategies anyone?) I suggest that the concept of an all-volunteer army in this economy is a fraud. People scoff at suggestions we revive the draft, but it sure would get out that youth vote and significantly alter the national dialogue regarding military interventions around the globe. Let’s honor our veterans by making it an increasingly exclusive club.
