Please note that The Wilbury Theatre Group is calling this production ‘Jesus Christ Superstar in concert.’ For them to be mounting such a challenging musical for only two nights is pretty impressive, so it seems likely that they have been working on the music as opposed to, say, elaborate fight choreography. This is fine because the music is pretty great.
David Tessier’s All-Star Band of All-Star Stars and the Wilbury Theatre Group bring you one of the most beloved pieces of music in rock ‘n’ roll history. For two nights only, the All-Star Stars will perform Andrew Lloyd-Weber’s 1970 masterpiece, Jesus Christ Superstar in its entirety! Directed by Kate Lester and featuring core All-Stars, Nate Goncalo (drums), Paulo Sousa (bass), John Brennan (keys), and Justin Grankewicz (percussion), Tessier has assembled an all star cast of local actors and singers to round out this huge production.
This is a very ambitious undertaking but Wilbury has rounded up a very talented group of singers and musicians. Plus, the Pope says that those attending this musical can skip church on Sunday (save your stub).
