New girl in town: This photograph comes courtesy of urban wildlife photographer, Peter Green, of Providence Raptors. There has been a big surprise this year. Mr. Green reports:

Both of our banded adults (together for 3 years) have been displaced by an un-banded pair! So, disappointingly, we’ll never know where they came from. But, at least they are successful breeders — they already have 2 eggs.

Mr. Green lives downtown and is often called upon to check on things. The following additional note should give you an idea of how much he contributes to our body of knowledge.

. . . I recently got a call that one of the previous pair of banded falcons was found dead on a rooftop, but when I went to retrieve the body, it was a banded racing pigeon consumed by a falcon.

6:30pm to 9:30pm, Saturday, April 21, Squantum Club, 1 Squantum Road, East Providence, (directions)
