(9.27) “Biodesign: From Inspiration to Integration,” an exhibition curated by the RISD Nature Lab in collaboration with William Myers, at the Woods-Gerry Gallery concludes Thursday, September 27, with a tour and a talk.
The afternoon will begin with a tour of the exhibition led by co-curators Lucia Monge (MFA, Sculpture ’15) and David Kim (MFA, D+M ’14), followed by a talk by Callie Clayton (BFA, Textiles ’17), materials design research associate at Modern Meadow.
It may seem odd to need a tour of an exhibit, but much of the work here is a science/design hybrid with its own peculiar vernacular which I did not understand. Other pieces are clearly fanciful but make a statement. Seen here is a pink chicken I rather like. (Page 24 of the catalog.)
