Cicilline At Hope High

(1.19) This is fun — U.S. Representative David Cicilline is fast becoming a regular on the cable news shows. Television producers have figured out that our guy is knowledgeable and quick on his feet. Cicilline is both outspoken and personable — this man does not suffer fools gladly. He is an experienced attorney and legislator, who speaks quickly and knows when to stop talking, and he always articulates exactly what you wanted someone to be saying.

Cicilline garnered major national attention last summer for his spirited defense of FBI agent Peter Strzok during a committee hearing. (ProJo 7.24.18)

Stephen Colbert admiringly referred to him as “Congressman Andy Cohen” after one of Cicilline’s sharp retorts, a reference to the Bravo TV host (Cicilline says he’s a Cohen fan and tweeted out a clip).

I first heard Cicilline speak decades ago when he argued a case in front of the R.I. Supreme Court and I was blown away.

And Cicilline isn’t afraid to face his constituents . . . why would he be. Cicilline seems to have a specific topic in mind for his “Community Conversation” this Saturday. (Facebook event page.)

Join Congressman Cicilline for a community conversation on the For The People Act to empower American voters and limit corporate influence.

Having said that, what we need to do about the criminal in the White House is on everybody’s mind and will surely come up.

Organizers ask that you register for a ticket.

Free, 11am to 12:30pm, Saturday, January 19, Hope High School, 324 Hope Street, (directions)
