The RISD Ceramics Department only holds these every three years — I know that because I just looked up the word “triennial” just to make sure. Up now at the Woods-Gerry Gallery, “Clean Up is Cancelled” will run through January 26.
There is a lot to like here: Bowls, sculptures, textile/ceramic combos, lustrous glazes, even a digital clock with much experimentation on display. The sculpture below, poised on a painted chair, was fabricated from “stoneware, screenprinted underglaze transfers, and fabric.”
Seen here is a wall sculpture, Color Test: Cone: Reduction & Oxidation by Colin Yoon (MFA Ceramics 2021), ceramics and plywood.
Free, through January 26, Clean Up is Cancelled, Woods-Gerry Gallery, 62 Prospect Street, (directions)
