(10.5) Makayla and Matt will be on hand Thursday when the Industrious Spirit Company (ISCo) kicks off a new line of experimental spirits with March Forth! By partnering with Narragansett Brewery, this specialty spirit has to be the quintessential Rhode Island collab. Here’s all you need to know:
We took Gansett’s Oktoberfest Märzen lager, distilled it like a whiskey, then aged it for over 20 months in new charred American oak barrels!
With a mix of honey, cider and elderberry-caramel on the palate, March Forth! offers up warm notes of toasted grains and smoked toffee, with a lingering malty finish. It’s best enjoyed neat or over a big cube of ice!
Starting at 5pm on Thursday: Narragansett Beer will be on hand serving up tastes of the original Märzen beer; head distiller Dan Neff will be grilling up his famous Distillery Dawgs (but save room for the pretzel eating contest); and there will be a free pour for anyone attending in lederhosen!
(Märzen lager was traditionally brewed in March. It was also the beer served at what became the first Oktoberfest celebration.)
Tasting room manager Makayla Habershaw had this to say last weekend when I barged in unannounced:
This is the debut of our limited spirits release line . . . so this is our number-one first collaboration distilling with another brewery or anything like that, so we are excited about that aspect of it. Also this is the launch of our limited release product line of aged spirits, which we are excited about doing in a limited fashion, only available in our tasting room. You can both enjoy it in the tasting room and buy bottles from here.
Makayla and Matt are excellent company. And they know their stuff.
Spirit launch starts, 5pm, Thursday, October 5, ISCo, 1 Sims Avenue, (directions)
