Bach To The Future X

(11.4) Hooray. The popular Bach marathon returns for the tenth year this Friday night with twelve hours of great music — an all-night marathon of J.S. Bach and experimental Bach performance — and it’s free. The marathon ends at 7am on Saturday morning. Bring a pillow.

Bach to the Future, the All-Night Bach Marathon, resumes in person for the 10th annual collaboration between Community MusicWorks and the musicians in and around Providence, Rhode Island!

This unique event creates a space for musicians of all types to interpret and explore the music of J.S. Bach, using both classical and non-traditional/experimental approaches.

Bring a blanket and pillow and come and go as you please. Coffee will be brewing courtesy of the Coffee Exchange, and we will celebrate midnight with pasta!

The event takes place on the 2nd floor of Manning Hall, above the Haffenreffer Museum. Check the Facebook page for the schedule (they have done a great job of keeping to the schedule in the past). There are over 50 skilled performers on tap — several are familiar names in the local music scene — deploying an assortment of instruments in arrangements both traditional and modern.

So if you wake up in the middle of the night and can’t get back to sleep, throw on your best bathrobe and head on over.

Free, 7pm, Friday, November 3 to 7am, Saturday, November 4, Bach to the Future, 21 Prospect Street, Brown University Manning Hall, (directions)
