Free Wurlitzer Moms Concert

(5.8) You don’t have to be a mother or have a mother to enjoy this Mother’s Day-themed concert taking place Wednesday on the Mighty Wurlitzer at the Providence Performing Arts Center (PPAC). “Mamma! Mamma!” is free and open to the public and no ticket required. Attendees are welcome to bring their lunch. Complimentary drinks will be available. This is a free event to benefit Sojourner House.

Peter Edwin Krasinski, PPAC’s house organist, will lead us in honoring “Moms,” with the music of songs by and for Broadway moms, including Les Miserables’ Fantine, Mamma Mia!’s Donna, Gypsy’s Mama Rose, Hairspray’s Edna and many more. The concert will end with choosing some requests from the audience!

The PPAC Mighty Wurlitzer was built in 1927 and has five keyboards, twenty-one ranks, and percussion that can produce many orchestral sounds, as well as sound effects that can be utilized when accompanying silent films.

Conductor, organist, and music educator, Peter Krasinski is a genius and a lot of fun.

Free, noon, Wednesday, May 8, PPAC, 220 Weybosset Street, (directions)
