(10.17) Experience a lively evening of angst at the 6th annual ‘Not About the Buildings’ Spelling Bee.
36 spellers will take to the stage of AS220’s main performance space on Friday, October 17th, but only one will emerge as Providence’s spelling bee champion. There are fabulous prizes for the victors, including memberships to the Providence Athenaeum and the RISD Museum, as well as a gift certificate to north and other yet-to-be-announced goodies. But there’s also fame and glory and honor and all of those other nice things!
The Bee is the ONLY Not About The Buildings event where we ask for money, but we do it in fun ways. All funds raised that night will power Not About The Buildings for the next year, so more money means more literary events for the next year. Which is a win-win for everyone, right?
Also, if you’d like to get a leg up on everyone else, maybe take a gander at the Spelling Bee Study Guide, a zine we published in 2012 that features 26 stories by 26 writers, one about each letter of the alphabet.
$7 to spell, free to watch, 8:30pm signup, 9pm competition, Friday, October 17, AS220, 115 Empire Street
