Ocean State Oyster Festival

(10.7) Celebrate Rhode Island’s oyster culture this Saturday at the 9th annual Ocean State Oyster Festival. Head down to the boardwalk on the Providence River and sample the 15 Rhode Island oyster farms. Compare and contrast: Are they chewy, firm, earthy, silky? Or meaty, plump, and smooth? The event also features live music, craft beer and wine, and food trucks (to augment your oyster intake).

Participating Farms: Aquidneck Island Oyster Co.; Blue Acres Aquaculture; Bluff Hill Cove Oyster Farm; 401 Breachway Oysters; East Beach Blonde Oysters; Fox Island Oysters; Quonnie Rock Oyster Co.; Quonnie Siren Oysters; Quonset Point Oysters; Rome Point Oyster Co.; Salt Box Sea Farm; Salt Pond Oysters; Watch Hill Oysters; West Passage Oysters.

Live music from 1:30pm to 7pm, hosted by DJ Unkle Thirsty. Dave Tessier’s All Star Stars (5:30-7pm)/ DudeManBro (3:30-5:30)/ Z-Boys (1:30-3:30pm)

Ocean State Oyster Festival collaborates with the Nature Conservancy of RI to reclaim the event’s discarded oyster shells, keeping them out of the landfill and adaptively up-cycling them for reef building.

Rain or shine. Children 12-and-under are free. Adults: $10 advance, or $15 day of. Dogs are welcome but must be leashed at all times. Oyster and drink tickets sold separately.
